It focuses on delivering quick, cost-effective, and innovative emergency response programs, including clean water, food, medical support, and shelter, to communities affected by crises.) Age: 40 years
Profession: Civil engineer _ Senior Construction Inspector
Location: Toronto
Community Involvement:
Over the last year, I have taken the initiative to support and strengthen our Beit El Jebel community here in Canada. When there was no formal board in place, I did my best to bring our community members together, believing that a united community is essential for a brighter future for our children.
With the support of dedicated friends, I successfully organized three major events that not only kept us connected but also reignited hope and commitment among us. These gatherings encouraged many new families to join and actively participate in our growing community.
Following the heartbreaking events in Swaida, I was honored to be selected as a member of the Emergency Board. Our mission is to raise funds and provide meaningful support to our families back home. We chose to focus on the critical water crisis in Swaida, and I have taken direct responsibility for this initiative, coordinating with experts and key stakeholders to make real progress.
Most recently, I have been involved in several collaborative projects aimed at unifying global efforts to support Swaida. One of the most promising initiatives is Global Swaida, which connects expatriates from around the world to work together for a lasting impact
Why do you want to join the board?
I’m not seeking a title—I’m seeking a platform to continue serving, building, and inspiring. Being on the board would allow me to formalize my efforts, collaborate more effectively, and help lead our community toward a stronger, more united future.
In addition, I’m deeply committed to expanding our fundraising efforts and mobilizing resources to support our families in Swaida as they face this ongoing crisis.
What you hope to achieve if elected:
Since I became involved last year, my hope has always been to bring our community together here in Canada to create a warm, supportive environment where we feel like one family. I hope to build meaningful connections between our children, so they grow up with a sense of belonging, pride, and shared identity.
At the same time, I’ve committed myself to addressing urgent issues back home. The water crisis in Swaida is not merely a logistical challenge; it is a humanitarian issue. By remaining focused, transparent, and inclusive, I believe we can transform this initiative into a model of what community-driven action can accomplish.
Community Involvement:
– Save Sweida Committee: worked alongside 7 other members to raise funds and organize distributions to the people affected by the attacks on Sweida.
– Michener Charity President: As President of the Michener Charity Committee, I led a team of 9 in organizing impactful initiatives that directly supported vulnerable communities in Toronto. Under my leadership, we raised funds for homeless youth, collected hundreds of non-perishable food items for local shelters, and gathered over 500 clothing items for women and children in need. I collaborated with multiple non-profit organizations to maximize outreach and ensure every campaign made a real difference. This role strengthened my leadership, team coordination, and fundraising skills, and showed me the power of an organized and compassionate team.
– Social Media Manager: I’ve previously volunteered in various organizations (MCC, CityKidz Regina) as the social media manager to increase engagement and bring awareness.
– Content creation: I began my content creation journey on TikTok in August of 2024 and have been an active member in the perfume community. The expertise I’ve possessed from this experience have allowed me to learn better how to engage and communicate with a large audience to deliver a message and what it takes to influence people.
Why do you want to join the board?
I want to be part of the board because I believe in the strength and potential of our community. We have incredible talent and hope, but what we need are strong voices to turn ideas into action. I’m ready to be one of those voices. With the experiences and skills I’ve gained through my leadership and volunteer work, I’m committed to giving back and making a real, lasting impact for our people. This isn’t just about representing the minorities, it’s about actively building a bright future we all want to see for our people.
What you hope to achieve if elected:
If elected, my focus will be on advocating and taking action, both locally and abroad. I will push towards raising awareness and organizing efforts to pressure the Canadian government to take meaningful action in securing the release of the female hostages and Red Cross volunteers. Their safe return must remain a priority.
Second, I aim to build partnerships with trusted organizations in Sweida to deliver essential aid—such as female hygiene products, school supplies, and clothing—to families who need it most.
Lastly, I want to work towards more youth engagement by organizing more regular meetups and meaningful activities for the Ontario youth group. Our young people need consistent opportunities to connect, grow, and lead within the community.
Community Involvement:
In this last month I formed an activist group comprised of young women that planned two successful protests for the Beit El Jebel community, with more on the way. Further back, while the Syrian refugee crisis was at its peak (in 2015) I worked closely with the Christie Refugee Centre to persuade them to bring a larger number of Druze migrants. I helped many families with their applications and consistently assisted in their immigration processes. I have prior experience working with a Reading Recovery program in the TDSB that has shaped many of my teaching practices and inspired many of the ideas that I intend to put forth should I get voted on the board.
Why do you want to join the board?
I believe that my teaching and volunteer experience, along with my passion for community stewardship would be a huge asset to the board. I know that my love for our shared identity, and my belief in third spaces designed for youth would assist in supporting this organization and its members.
What you hope to achieve if elected:
I hope to continue on this path of activism for the people of Suwayda, by holding more public events (like protests, fundraisers, etc) that raise awareness and funds for our community back home. I will also start a few programs that are designed to uplift our community’s children. I hope to start a volunteer based literacy program that can help newcomer children, along with more integrated kids within our community, in building early literacy skills that are necessary for navigating the Canadian school system. Furthermore, I want to build a Homework Helpers program, that can connect older youth with younger children in the community and act as a backbone in their schooling, with the intention of eliminating, or greatly reducing, the need for paid tutoring services that community members may have gravitated towards.

I believe my mix of finance and community experience can make a positive contribution to the our community

Community Involvement:
Before the recent crisis in Sweida, my participation had been limited — not due to a lack of interest, but because I felt that my voice or contribution wouldn’t make a difference. That changed completely after the heartbreaking events in Sweida. Like so many others, I felt a deep responsibility to defend our people by every means available— even if it meant simply sharing a post or responding to false accusations against them.
Given my legal background, I also took steps to report offensive content and individuals based in Canada who were spreading harmful and misleading information about our community.
Why do you want to join the board?
These days we truly felt how important our community is in Canada — not just for emotional support, but for standing together in every way. Strengthening our Druze community will benefit future generations, both in Canada and back home in Sweida. I believe it’s my duty to contribute in any way I can. Whether through organized efforts, advocacy, or simply showing up and offering support.
What you hope to achieve if elected:
My main goal is to help provide urgent and meaningful support to Sweida and Our Community by:
1- Establishing coordination teams in both Canada and Sweida to address the immediate needs of displaced families, including housing and essential supplies.
2- Ensuring accountability and effectiveness by appointing dedicated team members with clear oversight.
3- Developing sustainable solutions by planning long-term access to clean water and electricity, starting with hospitals and clinics.
4- Supporting displaced students by connecting them with civil organizations and scholarship opportunities, and by creating a broader education support plan for all ages.
5- Preparing for winter by coordinating early to secure heating solutions and necessary resources before the cold season begins.
6- Providing legal support as a licensed paralegal in Ontario to help newcomers navigate the Canadian legal system within my scope of practice.
7- Strengthening our outreach to ensure families know they are not alone and that help is available.
8- Ensuring transparency in all our operations, decision-making, and resource allocation.
9- Creating new resources to generate more income to the community.

Over the past few years, I’ve been heavily involved in many clubs and volunteer initiatives. Majority of my experience is within my university clubs, however, I have also worked to plan many of the recent Beit El Jebel initiatives. Below is a list of my experiences.
EVENT/DANCE PLANNING
Over the past few years, I’ve taken part in the planning of 3 different dinner dance events through Uoft’s Civ Club and Engineering Society. Attendance has ranged from 200-600 individuals with budgets ranging from $25,000-$70,000. I coordinated with DJs, vendors and photographers and ensured that the event ran smoothly by creating a “day of” plan. I negotiated with various vendors, most recently negotiating a DJ price decrease from $3000 to $1000. I also negotiated with a venue to lower meal prices from $85 to $82 while adding an extra meal. I’m also involved in UofT’s Canadian Society of Civil Engineers where I’m currently planning a number of smaller dinner events with an attendance of 40-60 individuals and budgets ranging from $3000-$5000. I hope to utilize my diverse event planning experience to plan our New Year’s Eve and Eid parties as well as other gatherings.
PROTEST/VIGIL PLANNING
Following the events in our hometown of Suwuyda, I’ve been a part of the young women’s group who’s worked on planning the recent protests/vigils. I’ve planned march routes, created posters and worked to ensure safety in all our events. I hope to continue to plan demonstrations that bring awareness to what has happened in Suwuyda.
FINANCE/SPONSORSHIP
I’m currently part of Uoft Engineering Society’s finance committee and endowment fund committee. We manage 2 budgets, $200,000 and $50,000 respectively. I review financial applications, receipts and budgets and ensure that all funds are distributed in a way that is equitable and maximizes student impact. I also recently worked on the Sponsorship Package of UofT’s Canadian Society of Civil Engineers. The package helped us raise $3000 in funds. I hope to leverage my financial experience to diversify Beit El Jebel’s income streams while working to promote Druze owned businesses.
Why do you want to join the board?
I’m greatly passionate about public and community service, as reflected by both my past volunteer experience. I would like to join the board to apply what I have learnt, make valuable change and lay the ground works for the long term success of our community in Canada. I believe my strong event planning experience and passion will make me a perfect fit for this role.
What you hope to achieve if elected:
CURRENT GOALS
Currently, I would put all my efforts into bringing awareness to what is currently happening in and raising money for our people back home. I would also like to start a long term charity program that will support the rebuilding of Suwuyda’s infrastructure.
LONG-TERM GOALS
In the future, I would like to work to:
1) Plan more Youth tailored events and programs. Those include Arabic Language/ Druze History or Culture Classes, High School Student Mentorship and Scholarship Programs and a Youth Summer Camp.
2) Plan more Social and Community Events such as Back-to-school Picnics and Mother’s Day Breakfasts .
3) Support a strong financial plan that includes membership subscriptions and sponsorships, with the hopes of promoting Druze owned businesses.
4) Create a plan for purchasing a Beit El Jebel building which can be used for events, gatherings, and as an office for the executive team.

Why do you want to join the board?
W
Because our community deserves a representative who understands both the richness of our roots and the challenges of living far from our homeland. Coming from immigrant families who worked hard to preserve their identity, many of us know the struggle of belonging—raising children who seek to balance two worlds. This candidacy is about giving them pride in their culture, a stronger sense of identity, and a future where traditions are not lost.
Transparency will be at the heart of everything. All activities, projects, and funds will remain open and accessible, so that the community always knows how every effort is serving them.
What you hope to achieve if elected:
[
The goal is to create events and initiatives that not only celebrate our heritage but also raise the resources needed to support our brothers and sisters in Sweda. At the same time, we will work to open doors in Canada for humanitarian pathways that allow Druze families to find safety and stability in a new home.
This is not about one person; it is about all of us working together. Each step, each project, and each decision will be guided by the voices and needs of the community. The strength of this candidacy lies in collaboration, service, and a shared vision of unity.
